About

Throughout my whole life (I’ve just hit my half century), I have been involved in some creative endeavour or other. It has been my great pleasure to be involved in a variety of arts and crafts, ranging from needlework to sculpture and fine portraiture. Somehow, I even managed to get myself an honours degree in fine art.

Nicola Porter Studio began because I couldn't decide which of my passions I loved the most!

I take great pride in creating handcrafted bags, purses, and accessories using a wide range of high-quality fabrics, many of which are repurposed from the upholstery trade. Making my produce more sustainable. This also helps to lower my productions costs a little. Which in turn means that I can offer more affordable prices to my customers. Many of my bags are created using sewing patterns from other talented bag designers, I have acknowledged and credited each designer in the individual product descriptions

My handmade painted bags are truly unique, each bag is meticulously designed by myself from the initial pattern drafting, the careful selection of fabrics, to every brush stroke and all the way to the final stitch.

I am truly passionate about creating these bags! I put a lot of time and effort into every step of their creation. Although making these bags takes longer compared to my other products, probably making this category my slowest growing list. To me, its definitely worth taking the extra time because they are my absolute favourite to make!

Creating these handmade painted bags allows me to incorporate

many of the techniques I adore; painting with paints and inks, linocut and stencilling and when time permits I am looking forward to incorporating some of the exciting experimental techniques that I have been using recently in my original artwork.

In my original artwork category, I currently have a collection of mixed media pieces, each of which has several variations. One aspect that sets my work apart is my constant desire to experiment and explore new techniques and to create unique, unconventional pieces. Its highly unlikely that you will find another artist who creates in the same way, making each artwork truly one-of-a-kind.

I have taken care to mount each piece in a high quality mount, ensuring that they are ready to be framed according to your personal taste

I still have a few remaining limited edition prints available from my captivating Steam and Diesel Locomotive series. Each high quality print is derived from the original artwork that I created, capturing the essence and charm of these magnificent machines.

These locomotives are cherished by those who appreciate the timeless allure of the transport industry and historical significance of remarkable engineering

Each print has been ready fitted into a high quality mount, prepared for you desired frame.

Do you have a longing for a bespoke handmade bag designed just for you, that won’t cost you the earth?

Or maybe you’ve seen a design on my website or socials but it’s sold or not your colour?

Perhaps you would like to commission a piece of art - I work in pencil, charcoal and pastel as well as acrylic inks and paint.

Why not drop me a message and we can work out the details together. And I can give you a quote.

A couple of points to keep in mind:

It does take longer to create bespoke pieces, so give yourself plenty of time, particularly if you have a deadline, such as a birthday.

Before I begin work, I will ask for a 50% deposit. This is not something I want to do, I do because it is necessary.

If there is an item that you would like to reserve, I am very happy to hold items for you for a maximum of 30 days. After the 30 day period, if you have not paid or have changed your mind for whatever reason. I’ll make it available for general sale once more.
